Month 1.5: Secret Mission

ShadowJay:

I enter the Queen's lab as we were still in hyperspace on the road to some other treasure hunt for Jean now that the last one was complete.

"Tough luck with the shroom eh?" I pip up on the mushroom hunt that resulted in fleeing Michael's territory.

I lean on the table staring at that godawful creature in the cage again.

Life's not fair is it...

I look back at Jean seeing the similarities all to well. I say nothing else waiting for her.

She wants so much to be a wraith.. how unfortunate

Jean:

"Not completely."

I spin my chair to address him.

"I still got my samples."

Though they proved to be the most mundane of them all..

"You seem well?"

I question, attempting "small talk" but it really wasn't my thing - even among family.

I cut to the chase.

"As time is of the essence and my research is taking longer than anticipated, I will require your assistance elsewhere in order to expedite the process."

I stand up and wander closer to him in thought.

"There is a serum out there, this we know but I cannot be in two places at once, so if you were to continue the search without me, whilst I of course continue my research here, we could in a way, "kill two birds with one stone" .

I proposition him.

Unfortunately, the mission was quite dangerous. I would have much preferred sending the Commander in his stead, but that was not possible as the Commander was quite old and hadn't the same connections or background as ShadowJay.

Shadowjay:

I don't respond to Jean's attempt at small talk. To be honest it was easier when I wasnt so well or myself..

Her plan was logical, that disaster of a Hallowraith party did prove there was a serum but of course we did not even come close to discovering where its kept, no doubt NOT on that party station.
She really could not risk herself going back into the Kingdom like that. The whole thing was lunacy but thankfully there was a distraction to have gotten away unscaved.

Going back there was alot to ask....

At least at the party I did not have to suffer seeing Carly.....Spike...everyone who is left...

"Its true I'd be more a help to you in the Kingdom...I just hope I can get back to you soon enough, they wont trust me right away. Not after what I did. If I cant get the serum itself would a victim who has taken it before help as well? Like Bane."

Surely by now they have used it on others...

Jean:

ShadowJay suggests another option should his efforts to retrieve the serum prove unsuccessful.

I run a hand through my hair in thought.

"Maybe?"

I wasn't thrilled at the idea but it was better than nothing I suppose.

"Would it be of any help to send another with you?"

I brainstorm, outloud.

ShadowJay:

I see her disappointment clearly if I bring back a subject.

"I'll get the serum itself then. Just to not waste the whole..trip.."

When I met him I wasnt aware Ra was my son..now I see quite the manulpative benefit...

"Is it a pretty girl?" I say sarcasticly to Jean's offer in someone to help me.

That would be the best way to get it really by Ra's Mhyspace posts...

Embarrassing..

Jean:

I give ShadowJay a curious look at his response.

He seemed confident at achieving his objective despite his previous hesitation.

I do not push the subject further.

While I make my way to the caged iratus bug to feed it, ShadowJay makes a strange comment with respect to my suggestion.

"There may be one in the feeding pods for you to choose from?"

I suggest missing his sarcasm before turning to my bug in thought.

"Would a gift help ease the tension?"

ShadowJay:

I sigh a little, not really wanting to deal training some screaming village women for a critical mission this late in the game.

I watch her with that UGLY pet of hers for a moment and wonder if she was offering it to me.

"Eh a bug might do acurely as a good conversation starter..."

I think of another bug awkwardly.

Ugh I cant do this sober...

Jean:

I try not to smile at his choice of gift.

I had taken what I could from the creature so I suppose letting it go would not be a loss.

"Very well, it is yours."

I pick up its cage and pass it to him before noticing Jay's look.

"Are you alright?"

Jay reminded me of his father and he too perplexed me at the best of times. I have managed to adopt a few human mannerisms of my own but they certainly did not come natural.

Shadowjay:

I know I was probably not going to come back so maybe I SHOULD have taken the heart to heart...

nah..

"I'm fine, weird going back is all...I'm more worried about leaving you alone." I tease back coly.

I stick my hand between the bars trying to get a raise out of ugly.

"Does it have a name??"

Jean:

I tilt my head at his concern.

"I'll be with the hive, what could possibly go wrong?"

He is so strange.

I think to myself as the bug tries to bite his fingers as he teases it through the bars.

Jay asks for its name and I take in the question for a moment assuming he wished to know its classification.

"It is an iratus bug with traits not dissimilar to my own."

I say as though I had no association with the creature.

"I would classify it as its own subspecies of Siragen Iratus."

Shadowjay:

Jean tells me she'll be with the hive, what could possibly go wrong.

.....

No comment.

Instead of a name Jean tells me ...its basically her deevolved?

"Gottcha.."

Just going to keep calling it Ugly then..

"Thank you, you know I'll do my best. uh see you round then?" I turn to go with the silly little critter as my only back up.
